Specialising in Young horse starting and trailer loading.

Horses have been a great love of mine ever since I was about six years old. I wanted to have a horse of my own ever since then! Unfortunately my parents didn’t see that necessity, but I could go to a riding school to learn how to ride. There I have ridden for years and have done a little bit of dressage and jumping and a lot of vaulting. Furthermore I have taken care of other people’s horses and ridden them.

When I went to college, the active riding disappeared into the background a little bit. I focused on a career in tourism at that time. After having worked in that industry for several years, I felt that there had to be more in life than just working, so I quit my job and went travelling for a year in Australia. I wanted to have the time and peace to think what I really enjoyed doing. During this year it soon became clear again that being with horses gave me enormous joy, something I already knew of course as a child.

During this trip I worked at a trail riding company for two months and guided horse rides into the bush. It was there that I heard about natural horsemanship for the first time. A few months later I was searching the internet and found the names of Steve & Irena. I called them and asked if it would be possible to make a start with natural horsemanship with them. In December ’01 I spent a week at Silversand for the first time. I had the most wonderful week of my life; I learnt so much of both the horses (and other animals) and of them! Since then I was fortunate enough to travel to Silversand a few more times. I was able to attend a few young horse starting courses with Steve and other associates, which gives me an enormous, wonderful learning experience every time!

It gives me much joy to try to help other people with their horses, so in Holland I teach Silversand horsemanship now and start young horses according to natural principles.
