I am so honored to be the first teaching associate for Silversand Horsemanship from the United States. I feel like I have just learned the most incredible secret and need to let my students know there is yet a better way to achieve the soft and loving relationship with their horses they desire.
As a youth, I grew up in a pool as a synchronized swimmer spending my life upside-down, pointing my toes and holding my breath! I excelled to become a nationally ranked competitor, coach and a national judge. During my professional tenure with United States Synchronized Swimming I was part of a team involved in the 1984 Olympic debut of the sport, edited two instructional manuals, was a sport diplomat with the US Information Agency to South America, and coached the American duet as intercollegiate athletes that went on to win the gold medal in the Seoul Olympics.
I have earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, a master’s degree in sport administration and completed doctoral work in sport psychology. I have been actively teaching various sports to all age groups since the early 70’s.
Nearly 25 years ago I discovered the incredible world of horses. Up until ten years ago I would ride for a while then fall off, I had no balance if I wasn’t in the water. I was introduced to Parelli Natural Horsemanship in 1997. Since then I have been a consummate student of natural horsemanship studying and riding with some of the best including Pat & Linda Parelli, Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, Mark Rashid, Jack Brainard, Lee Smith and Steve Halfpenny to name a few. My current two horses are my third and fourth partners through the PNH level three program. During the late summer of 2007 I travelled to England to study with Steve Halfpenny and discovered a softer, lighter way to communicate with horses. What I learned from Steve has enhanced my relationship with my own horses and helped me become more advanced and confident as a student and a teacher. I use my extensive teaching background with my understanding of natural horsemanship to help my students (humans and horses) be the very best that they can be. Feel free to contact me if you want to know what I have learned. It would be my pleasure to help you.
