Specialising in Young horse starting, Coaching and Problem horses.

I started riding as a five year old. The parents of a good friend of mine owned a riding stables. I spent a lot of my free time there. When I was about eleven I also started leading the trail rides and part of the job was to break in un-ridden ponies. I landed in the bushes many times!

When I was 14 I had two horses that I looked after. One was an emotional trotting mare, the other a chestnut mare that always started a rodeo at a canter. The main thing those days was to stay on. I took lessons with the trotting mare in the nearby dressage stables.

When I was 21 I bought myself my own horse, an Arabian. At the same time I flew to a ranch in America, where I started to ride western. Impressed by the calmness of the horses, I decided to take a different path with my new horse.

On my search for something new I saw the Parelli Method in 1999 and participated in many courses with my horse. One year later I took part in my first course with Steve Halfpenny. I was fascinated straight away by the way Steve taught. That was what I wanted to learn.

Through Steve and Irena I received the chance to learn and understand "Natural Horsemanship". I was able to further deepen my knowledge during my trip to Australia to Steve and Irena in November 2003.

Today I want to pass on my knowledge to others, as a lot of the time the goal is so near. I've learnt this through my experience in teaching. Whether it's Dressage, Western or recreational riding, we all have the same goals. To be in harmony with our horse through trust and mutual respect.

Specialising in Young horse Starting and Trailer Loading

Since my childhood on my parent's farm I've had contact to animals. This was widened in the riding stables across the road where I spent many afternoons. There I had the chance to ride a lot of horses.

Later when I was learning to be a kindergarten teacher I had two Haflingers with which I had a lot of fun.

1995 at the age of 31 I went to a reining show and was fascinated by the athletic manner and calmness of the western horses. Shortly after I went to watch a Parelli day and was impressed by the demonstration about what was possible with Natural Horsemanship.

I bought a Quarter Horse mare together with my wife, which I trained myself and took to different courses with Steve Halfpenny and Silke Valentin.

Steve's way of adapting to each horse and helping it with very little pressure and in a very calm manner, never ceases to fascinate me.

My goal is to build a relationship based on partnership between horse and rider and to start my work based on their horsemanship level.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge and horse handling skills with other people in order to help them also improve on the wonderful journey with their horses.

Specialising in Young horse starting and coaching.

The first time that I met Steve and Irena Halfpenny was in November 2001 in Braidwood Australia. Steve rode his horse with the same patience that he had, when he was answering my questions later on. Deeply impressed by Australian horsemanship and also by Australian hospitality, a few more years had to pass by before our paths crossed again, so I will start a little earlier:

With some experience in performing exercises, pony riding and some riding lessons, I grew into adulthood. It was then when I discovered my passion for western riding at the”Eisbeck Ranch” and it was there where I found my long standing friend and partner Nafees.

We spent a lot of time in the woods so I decided to go for a childhood dream and go on a long distance ride. His Arabian high spirited will to run brought us from trail rides in the beginning to finally leaving our homelands in Osnabrück heading south towards France in 1998. In November that same year we finally reached the Mediterranean Sea at St. Marie de la Mer at the Camargue, France, after nine months.

Originally on the way home, I stopped at the Chateau de la Beaume, which was the French Parelli-Agency at that time. They gave me the opportunity to be a working student for Silvia Furrer and learn from her. Besides the horsemanship education, I was able to learn a lot about breeding horses, farming an how to manage a guest ranch. Due to my activities for PNH France I had the possibility to be part of some special events, for example to be with Pat and Linda Parelli in Saumur at Cadre Noirand also classes and workshops with other instructors and coaches.

With instructing guidance I was allowed to participate in all parts of horse education which was a good preparation to work and educate by myself. They had a special attention in a positive attitude towards the horses at daily work tasks.

Inspired from the Australian horsemen Steve Halfpenny, Ken Faulkner and Phil Nye, whom I met during my stay in Australia, I am back in Germany and work here now since 2002. For almost one and a half years I participated in the horse-communication-centre “ArhönA e.V. That gave me the possibility to teach riders with different background knowledge. I am very thankful for the wonderful experience that I had with disabled people and all the astonished happy kids.

Steve is coming to Germany on a regular basis and therefore I was able to get back in track with him. Meanwhile deeply impressed by the classical art of riding, I am educating a lot of ambitioned free time riders in natural horsemanship an I have a perfect guideline for my work in Steve’s Silversand System. It is a special motivation for me to teach for Silversand, because since July 2004 I am starting up a business on my own.

My girlfriend Anja and I are opening a NHS-school with the possibility of horseback tours. It is located at the Edersee / bordering the Nationalpark Kellerwald, with lots of trails to be discovered. Steve’s individual procedure for humans and horses inspires my work deeply.

Specialising in Young horse starting, Coaching and problem horses.

I bought my first horse in 1986. I was a great enthusiast of western riding. After lots of training, lessons and western clinics I took part in western tournaments: Reining and Trail. I was also doing long distance trails and pack horse trips. My first contact with Natural Horsemanship was a demonstration I saw in 1997 showing how people can play with horses. From that moment I changed my attitude to working with horses. Soon, I had the first contacts and first clinics booked. From this year on I took part in several clinics every year.

I was attending SNH courses in Germany from the first year they started. I spent 8 weeks (January and February 2005) in SNH Centre and took part in Young Horse Starting Clinic and in general Horsemanship education.

I am very proud of the knowledge I bring back home to Germany. Together with Denise Burkholtzwe will work in our new Training Centre at Ergeshausen.

Specialising in Kids camps, Schooling and trail riding

At the proud age of 5 , I knew for sure that "Happiness on earth lies on the back of the Shetties" (German saying normally with horses) and since then spent every free minute of my youth at the nearby stables. Finally I fell head over heels in love with the Haflinger Alfred - my first own horse.
Always on the look out for good horse knowledge I went to lots of courses and seminars held by good horse people. When Steve taught for the first time in Germany, at that time still a PNH Instructor, I was totally convinced. Steve had such a calm personality. He could build up a good connection also with difficult horses and help them become calmer and more secure. He seemed to be able to totally put himself into the horses place. From then onwards I visited Steve's courses every year with my own horses. I was very happy about Steve and Irena's invitation to go to Australia and spent January 2005 at the Silversand Natural Horsemanship Center to start young horses and improve my horsemanship.
At our four star LAG (a special award given to natural horse keeping stables) stables in Frohnhofen we hold courses that are based on the Silversand Natural Horsemanship philosophy. In summer Steve Halfpenny personally conducts clinics at the Lindenhof.  It's very important to me that not only adults, but also children get the chance to learn how wonderful Natural Horsemanship is. We hold kids camps during the summer holidays, that become an unforgettable experience for kids and youth.
