Hi Everyone,
Life has been very busy here at the Silversand centre over the last few months. EQUITANA was a great experience for us and we met many new contacts, some of whom have already become customers.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and look forward to helping you with your horsemanship.
Horses from The Way Of The Horse .
Some of you are probably aware that Steve has two of the horses that were used in the way of the horse competition at EQUITANA.
Myth, the horse that Steve rode ,was sold after the competition and we also have Dom the horse that Chad Brady rode.
Dom did not sell and Steve wanted to start him and find him a good home afterwards.
We already have one of our students/friends interested in him but are making a list of other interested people.
They are both lovely horses and we have been filming all the sessions Steve does with them and posting a short version of them on youtube.
If you subscribe to our youtube channel you will know when they are posted.
We were thinking of posting all of the footage on YouTube, but some of the sessions are up to an hour long, and far too big to put on YouTube.
We have decided to host the entire videos somewhere else and make them available to our club members.
These will soon be available as we have just installed a new high-speed broadband connection .
We now have a broadcast quality HD video camera, so as soon as Myth and Dom have had a few rides, we will start re-filming the whole programme again for the club.
There will be extra video covering the common problems that people seem to be facing with some of the skills .
We’ll probably put together a new young horse starting set of DVDs or maybe a blue ray DVD as we will have many hours of footage with Steve working with these two young horses.
USA
This year we will be finally be able to travel to the USA.
We are very excited about this as so many of the people we would love to learn from are based there.
We will be going to the “Californios “ ranch roping and stock horse contest http://www.thecalifornios.com
This contest is conducted in the old Vaquero tradition and will have many trade stands selling all the gear.
Next we then travel down to Santa Ynez to see the light hands horsemanship http://www.lighthandshorsemanship.com/home.htm with Eitan (Cowboy dressage) and Jack Brainard and many more top horsemen. This will be a fantastic experience and a opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced and respected horsemen . Maybe we will meet up with some of you over there?
Horse sunblock
While we were at Equitana we found a great product to protect our horses from the sun.
It is called My Pony Sunblock.
The product is a powder and is easily applied to any area that is susceptible to sunburn. We have been treating our own horses with it for the last two and half months, and are extremely happy with the results .
The horses are much happier to have that applied then the creams.

Equine Excellence
Steve has written an article about The Way of the Horse competition for the Australian magazine Equine Excellence. The article will be in the next issue. We believe this is a great magazine and we hope to be a regular contributor.
